55 hours and counting...

Well, no one has died yet from lack of dairy, although we are all suffering the side effects.  (he he).  Yes, I allow the girls to cheat and have all the milk they want, but the other two are off it.  Oatmeal and hot cereal just don't taste the same when made with rice milk and have dairy-free butter in it, but we try our best!

Did you know that the soy chese that I was looking at has Casein protein in it?  That is the major milk protein.  So, how do vegans do it???  Do they just turn a blind eye and pretend that the protein comes from soewhere else?  Hum....

Oh what am I going to do if this actually works?

Tish- is there an egg substitute out there that works on your little girl?  I figured that while I was at it, I might as well go no egg or tomato, since those are major triggers as well.

At my house, ranch dressing and ketchup are their own food group.  OH- I guess sour cream is as well.  My girls will seriously eat it like yogurt.  It's...interesting.  And, we can go through a big bottle of ketchup sometimes in 3 weeks.  I also have this AWESOME ranch dressing recipe.  What are my poor boys going to do?  Thankfully, mayo is made out of egg whites and oil - oh wait - crap.  Egg whites...hmmm I guess the egg thing is out the window, since my youngest has been consisting on tuna lately.  Crap...  so, we could have had french toast this morning instead of slimy oatmeal all along!!

My mom scheduled her trip, conveniently, AFTER the no-dairy trail is over.  I just don't think she wants to participate.  What an experience she is missig out on!

I did grab a container of that almond milk.  I haven't opened it up yet.  It's next on the list after the rice milk runs out.

I'm not even going to state how much longer to go...too long!!

You are very right about the soy cheeses. The only brand that has no casein is called Vegan Gourmet. Honesty, most things I'd rather have without cheese at all than with soy cheese. It's not that great, and doesn't melt even though it says it does on the package. If you do use it, use it in small amounts and shred it finely.
For eggs in baking, I use a product called EnerG egg replacer. For a long time I did either 1/4 cup applesauce or a combo of 1 tsp baking powder, 1 TBS vinegar, 1 TBS water, but the EnerG egg replacer works so much better. For just the 2 week trial though, the baking powder and vinegar will work, just try not to sub for recipes that call for more than 2 eggs.
As far as things not tasting as good, yup. Sorry about that.
And, if it does work, the eczema might get worse before it gets better, and you may possibly need to go a whole month before you can tell for sure.
For what it's worth, on some things, Tia's allergist thinks it's better to eat it and treat the itchiness, just to be able to eat more. Just a thought.
Good luck!!!
