Yes, we actually found snow today. It was a lot of fun. We were trying to get to the Hobo Cedar Groves up above Clarkia.
We had tons of fun. We got to within 3 miles of the Cedar Groves before there was a really big snow drift across the road, deeper than my knees. I got out and walked it, to see if we could perhaps cross. And no, I did not take pictures of the snow drift.
We probably could have mad it if there wasn't a drop-off on one side of the road, so if we slid off the road, we would be at the bottom of a VERY deep ravine right now.
So, we turned around and went back down the road just a bit, pulled over, and took another trail to hike on. We found a really fun waterfall/spring run-off spring that the kids really enjoyed playing in.
We also found some bear droppings, along with LOTS of elk, and some deer.
Did I mention that we found snow? They had a small snow-ball fight, and they slid down the snow on their bums and got wet.
This was at the "top" of our hike. We went with some friends of ours. We all had quite a time. And no, there are no adult males in this group. They were...you guessed it, fencing. That's all anyone does around here.
We, of course, had to hit the water again on the way out. The kids thought it would be fun to try and dam up the water. They did a relatively good job of it.
And, of course, as soon as we got home, all the clothes went in the washer, and all the kids went in the shower. It is tick season around here!! Yeah!!! We're going to try again in a couple of weeks, and hopefully by then it will have melted off enough that someone can make it through.
