When MaKayla talks on the phone to her Grandma, she gets serious!
She would live permanently in this princess dress, if I would let her. I insist she take it off when we go anywhere, or if we eat, or sleep. But as soon as we walk in the door, you could follow her trail of clothes to her room and find her changing back into this dress. She thinks she is "Princess Annalise" from the Barbi movie The Princess and the Pauper. She dances around the house singing "I am princess Annalise" over and over. Ha ha. Thanks for the movie Grandma!!
"Watcha doing MaKayla?" "I"m riding my bike, mom!" (aka - taking my bike for a walk) She insists that this is how you ride. We don't get far.
So, I got home today to a mysterious "package" on my front bench, nestled beside my Zucchini that I am seriously trying to give away. The note says, "I've been abandoned. Please give me a warm home (in your oven)". One would think that all of the zucchini would be a hint that maybe we don't want MORE squash, but while my neighbor refuses to take any more off my hands, she has NO PROBLEM dumping her abundance of acorn squash onto me. Apparently she thought that it would have more appeal if she glued eyes on it. Oh no, it just made my kids sad when I cut it in half!
We actually had a DELISH dinner with it tonight, though. I sauteed an onion and about 2 c. diced zucchini in about 3-4 T. butter, when it was done, I added about 6 oz. of cream cheese, diced. Stirred it until it was creamy and integrated with the zucchini and onion, then added some left over fresh corn that was in the fridge. Then, I added 1/2 of the acorn squash (which I baked in oven on a cookie sheet until it was VERY done), and also added 2-4 t. or so of chicken bullion. I then added milk, until I had as much soup as I wanted. You could add more bullion if you put in too much milk. We all LOVED it! It was way nummy. The other half of the squash is in my fridge. We're going to have it tomorrow with butter and salt along with old fashioned lemon/honey chicken. Yum yum!
On a side note, this is especially put in for Alexis, because I know how much she LOVES peoples posts that talk about how wonderful/beautiful their children are, and how socially/academically advanced their children are as opposed to others.......Gabe LOVED his 1 yr. birthday cake. The first thing he did was pick it up off his plate, and dump it on the floor. Unfortunately, we didn't get a shot of it, go figure. But, after he gave it a try, he devoured it. It was good stuff.

I think the princess dress thing all little girls do. Haylee is the same. She would wear her princess dress or one of her tutu's everywhere everyday if I would let her.
