Chickens & Chocolate Cinnamon Rolls

So, I guess I'll start with the cinnamon rolls.  There is this web-site called Cooking Ventures, and he has some GREAT recipes.  Anyway, he had one on chocolate cinnamon rolls a while back, and so I decided to try making them.  I used my cinnamon roll recipe, and just added 1/3 c. cocoa powder to the dough, and then did the rest of the filling the way that he recommends.  They were really good!!!

I ate more than my fair share.  And, using the Ghirardelli 60% Cacao Bittersweet Chocolate Chips was a great tip.  It made the chocolate just meld inside the rolls.

Don't mind the flower.  My girls were helping me take the pictures.  Oh yum yum!!

Now onto the chickens.  We got some more chickens on Tuesday of last week, and they are cool looking -sorta.  I had to take some pictures and show some people. My 18 month-old is obsessed with them.  He is constantly going up there to check them out.  Although, one of the white ones is a talker, and sits there and yells at my baby and makes him cry, but he keeps going back for more.  He likes to try and feed them pine needles that are all over the ground.  I always know where he is.

The pom-poms on the top just crack me up!

They just sit there and bounce all around.  The black one with the white pom-pom reminds me of big-bird.  They are a Polish chicken cross.  Whatever that means.

And if they get surprised, they just crouch down and don't move.  It's kinda like the fainting goats.  He he.

Anyway, funny birds!!  One got out the first day that we had them, and went  for about 1/3 mile hike to a neighbor and hung out in his back yard for the day.  We finally tracked her down and got her back at about 9:30 that night.  She's our world traveler!!  Who'd have known?
