After getting back from Seattle yesterday, we went for a hike up in Clarkia. We haven't been back to Grandfather mountain since we all went up there back in...'03? Maybe? With the Shawcroft's and the Robertson's. We had a great time this time a well, even if we didn't make it even half way.
The view is still incredibly beautiful. I think you would be hard-pressed to find something prettier - unless perhaps the camping up off the the Frank Church wilderness which is something else that we haven't done for a while and might have to go this year.
There were these really cool flowers all over at the beginning of the hike. The kids thought they were really cool.
Here's a bunch more.
This is where we stopped and turned around. We had to make it back to the house for fireworks. Cayson is angry because he couldn't find his new watch and he wanted to turn around so that we could look for it, and he didn't want to take pics first.
I'm angry! But hey, the view behind me is great!!
He was posing for the camera. Actually, he was pretending to punch the camera. Ha ha. Boys...
I really like Clarkia!
Guess what? We found snow here as well. The kid had to play in it and I had to take a picture of it.. We love snow. That's why we live where we do.
Isn't Cayson just the epidomy (sp!) of cheeriness? We finally turned around and looked for his watch the entire way back.. We eventually found it...in the Suburban.
Oh- speaking of Suburban, we hit a deer on the way home, but the batteries on the camera ran out so I couldn't get any pics!!

So, "speaking of the suburban" is everyone o.k.?! That sounds a little scary. What great adventures you've already had this summer! Looks like a lot of fun! I've seen those faces on Cayson several times on Ryman... Dean has threatened to never buy that boy a new toy again....
Clarkia looks beautiful from your pictures Sharilyn. Do you know the name of those flowers? I would like to look them up and learn about them.
I am forever telling my family when they loose something, before they have a fit to ask Heavenly Father for some help finding it..guess what they usually find it.
