Funny Things Kids Say

So, my oldest daughter came home from school the other day and she says to me...

"Mom, I want to be a teacher when I grow up so that I can have eyes all over my head, that would be soooo cool!" 

Totally serious.  I had a rough time keeping a straight face!

I'm Back!!!

So, I'll start my excuses as to why I have been absent by this one.  This is actually a little girl, even though she is in blue.  I don't do pink, if I can help it.  Unfortunalely, the majority of her clothes are pink.  What can you do?

The second reason is this:

I have five, yes count them, five freaking kids now!!!  Does anyone really think that there is enough time to get things done in this world?  Did I mention five kids?  So, I have had to do some serious catch-up for a while.  Then summer happened, and now finally school has started up again, but then harvest started, and canning/freezing/preserving.  But, today is Friday, and I am done with my chores, and I should go and pick green beans for the 12th time, but I have no desire so instead I am rambling on my blog.  Something I have not done for almost a year now!

So, it took someone flying over here from Australia to inform me that I REALLY needed to put some updated photos on here and to let his wife know that we are all still alive for me to finally do it.  So, thanks for kicking me in the pants.  I guess it is what I needed.  OH- and a faster computer that  I don't have to wait all day for things to load up.  That helps a lot as well!

I had to kick my youngest son out of the house today.  Not sure if I will let him back in.  He is a PAIN right now!  I'm purdy sure I don't like him at the moment.   He's gonna go to bed soon.  But, on the flip side, he is in underwear!  And the girls are (mostly) dry through the night.  That means that I only have to buy diapers for my baby!!  That's a significant thing around here, believe you me!

K-getting yelled at to make lunch.  Here's to not waiting a year to post again!!  Have a soccer game down south tomorrow, maybe I'll post some pics of the oldest kid!! --maybe--  This just might be a fluke moment, but we will see!!!

Sharilyn's Time Off from the Blog

I have hijacked the blog again (Jeremy Posting) to add some very important arrival information.  Friday night we had a new family member arrive.  The vital statistics are: Born Nov. 26th at 6:58 pm; Weight: 5 lbs 11.5 oz; Length: 19.5 inches.  More pics will probably follow as we get used to having 5 that is right 5 little people running around our already insane household.

Not sure what exactly I just did to my blog, or where the crap this strange background just came from, but I don't have time to mess with it at the moment.  Just know I did not pick it (it's really not me), I'm not sure how it got there, and I will fix it the next time I have 2 spare hours to yell at my computer!!!!

It's an Indian Summer around here!!!

You know, it went from being in the 50's around here about 3 weeks ago, to us getting a week and a half of 85 + degree weather.  It was crazy!  We're having a bumper crop of....cherry tomatoes!!  We have so many!!  I'm having a hard time complaining, mainly because it is difficult to achieve full red tomato status around here, as mostly things are still mainly green this time of year, and so the fact that I look out at the tomato patch and see red is quite exciting.  But, cherry tomatoes...

This is one of my youngest new birthday outfit.  Check it out.  The grass is dry enough to play in.  It usually rains all through the end of September/first of October, but like I said, we have been really enjoying the warm weather!!

I finally convinced my oldest to let me take a couple of pictures of him.  But, in order to do it I wasn't too picky on his poses.  Whatever.  At least I have documentation that he is still a part of our family!!

Oh the saga of the tire swing.  I think it is finally fixed so that it will not spontaneously drop while you are swinging.  Um, ouch.

My children have way too much fun when they get a hold of the camera.

So, we got some presents from the grandparents.  Grandpa wrapped them.  I think we need to have lessons as to appropriate wrapping paper to use for a 2 year old.  He is trying so hard to rip it  but it is not working!  It was quite hilarious to watch him try to open them up.  He finally resorted to asking someone else to open it for him, and then he would take it out.  It was fun though!!  And the facial expressions were worth it.

And my ramble is now at an end.  Oh - and the marvelous medication is Silver Sulfadiazine, or some derivative of it.  It is a must-have for your first-aid kit.  It is, obviously, mortal imperative for burns, but it does amazing things for about any wound imaginable as well.  It's not something you can get over the counter but if you have connections....

Why I've been avoiding my blog as of late.

So, do you see how ugly my blog is right now?  I am so mad at it that all my children are in trouble for no reason.  I can't get it to do what I want it to do.  I have now wasted the past 2 hours attempting to "fix" it, again.  It is just not worth it!  So, it is better to avoid the computer all together and pretend that it doesn't exist, than to sit here and stew over it an try, once again, to make it look presentable.  AAAHHH!!  So, for the moment I am, once again, giving up.  You're just going to have to deal with it, because now I have to finish up dinner, make the most delicious sweet cornbread, recipe from Candria, and go to work.  I figured I might as well put a few pics up, because that is the main reason that people look at blogs, anyway, not to check out everything else.
 

A few highlights from our summer, not that anyone wants, needs, likes, desires, etc. a travel log, so therefore I'm not going to give you one, but we did do some major traveling, and one of the places that we went to was Denver.  In Denver, there is this mountain called Mt. Evans.  It is a 14,000 footer.  So, while there, on our first full day there, we decided to climb this mountain.  With all the kids. 

We live at somewhere around 1500 feet or so, I think.  I can never remember.  Feel free to correct me.  Maybe it's 2,000 feet...anyway, it's a lot lower than 14,000 feet.  So, we get to the top of this mountain, and 100 yards from the top, Cayson starts experiencing some serious altitude sickness.  Headache, vomiting, dizziness, etc.  All the classic symptoms that are posted on the sign.  So, we then had to get down the mountain and get him some tylenol and fluids that he could keep down.

Oh, did I mention that it is paved all the way to the top?  And that we actually "climbed" it in the Surburban?  Well, I didn't and we did.  That's the way to get at 14000 footer under your belt!

Other mention of note:  STAY AWAY FROM THE FIRE PIT!!!

Ya know, we've been camping with the kids forever.  Bummer on the mishap.  Good thing for some great meds that are now easy to get a hold of!!  (not so easy a couple of years ago)

Here's the sort of after shot.  I won't show you all the in between shots, they will just bore you.  Maybe on my next post, I will put a current one up there.  Ruined swimming for the rest of the season, but all is okay.  One brave cookie we've got around here!

So, now I am going to make the cornbread, go to work, and try and figure out why my blog won't do what I tell it to do, loudly, just in case my computer is hard of hearing.
